Coping Strategies

Coping strategies refer to a specific effort, behavioral or psychological, that an individual employs to master, tolerate, or minimize a stressful event. They should be used an individual is or has experienced or stress and they want to manage the painful or difficult emotion or feeling that results. Two general coping strategies: problem-solving (efforts to do something active hat alleviates a stressful circumstance) and emotion-focused (efforts to regulate the emotional consequence of stress).

PHYSICAL EXERCISES

Regular exercise and physical movement can reduce levels of the body's stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body's natural painkillers and mood elevators. In addition, it can increase self-confidence, improve your mood, help you relax, and lower symptoms of mild depression and anxiety. Exercise can also improve your sleep, which is often disrupted by stress, depression, and anxiety.

BREATHING + GROUNDING TECHNIQUES

Breathing and grounding techniques are helpful when anxiety levels are high, grounding and breathing techniques can help to bring them back down to a manageable level. This can be particularly useful if we start to feel panicked, detached, or breathless. Additional benefits of breathing and grounding techniques are relieving pain, stimulate lymphatic system, improve immunity, lower blood pressure, improve digestion, etcetera.

Journaling is the act of informal writing as a practice. Journaling is a form of self-care. Journals can take many forms and serve different purposes, record thoughts, practice crafts, catalog ideas.There are various types of journals; travel journal, dream journal, gratitude journal, personal journal, and more. People decide to journal different aspects of their life for various reasons.
